Tribute to Larry Riggs

Larry's greatest passion, outside of his career as a firefighter, was prospecting for gold.  As a dedicated member of Central Valley Prospectors, he enthusiastically shared his knowledge and love of mining with anyone willing to learn. 

He also volunteered at the Mariposa Museum and History Center, where he took great pride in every role he filled.  From serving on the work crew and helping behind the scenes, to welcoming visitors as a docent during fourth-grade gold panning tours.

His favorite place was always the Stamp Mill where he had the rare opportunity to operate the historic stamps.  It was something few people could do, and every time he did, the smile on his face lasted for days.

Larry will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, steadfast leadership and willingness to share his knowledge with others.  He leaves behind a legacy of service, friendship, and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
