For those of you who are new, a part of our 501c base is educating the public about mining and the history of gold mining in California. To do this we start young. Every spring we create a field trip for a few local schools. We allow the students to experience the fun of actually panning for gold, looking for metal with a metal detector, dowsing and a few other things. We need member to join in to help with this as the schools typically turn out anywhere from 30 to 60 students eager to learn. It isn't necessary for you to be an expert to help with this just show up and help out.
